MOACASA-Design and Interior Fair in Rome

MoaCasa

Furniture and Interior design lovers!!!
Rome has something special for you. In fact, from October the 25th to November the 2nd Moacasa will take place.
Moacasa is a fair that will delight all those interested in interior decoration or those just looking for stylish ideas to apply to their
own homes. Paying a visit might be an interesting off-the-beaten-track option in your travel itinerary and a great opportunity to get in
close contact with the world-famous Italian design.
La fiera di Roma is the venue for Moacasa. This vast structure built in the outskirts of Rome will house the fair in four of its pavilions.
Two of them will be dedicated to interior design. In one of the other two will be exposed all the items for bathroom and kitchen, and the
other one will be reserved for accessories, posters, and curtains.
CentoSedieCentoArtistiForget postcards and funny t-shirts you’re never going to wear. The great thing of visiting Moacasa is the possibility of buying a durable
and beautiful souvenir that reflects genuinely the culture and taste of Italy and will add a touch of it to your home and will remind you
everyday the great time you had in Rome.

It’s really easy to reach La Fiera di Roma. All you have to do is go to Tiburtina station on the blue subway line and there take the train
to Fiumicino airport. Then get off in the predictably-named station Fiera di Roma and that’s it. The tickets for Moacasa cost 6 euros on
weekdays and 8 euros on the weekend. Aditionally, the weekend-ticket can be used as an entrance for other weekday and the visitors under 16
years enter the fair for free.
If you are planning to visit places that, like this one, are outside the typical touristic routes, Rome can be a tricky city. That’s why
you got to make a smart hotel-choice when you plan your trip.
An elegant Hotel Des Artistes in Rome is unbeatable when it comes to convenience in location. The Termini station is only four blocks away
from it and just around the corner you have a blue-subway-line station (that’s the line where Tiburtina and the train to Moacasa is).
From there you can explore Rome and the areas around it without major worries. A savvy decision like this one will make you save money and
time, and that’s what every traveler wants!

ETRUSCHI

Rome, Palazzo delle Esposizioni (Via Nazionale 194, Roma), from October, 21 2008 to January ,6 2009

clip_image001[9]

The exhibition Etruscans describes the story of the Etruscan civilization in Lazio through the extraordinary development of its main urban centers: Veio, Cerveteri, Vulci and Tarquinia, four cities that began life with many of their more ancient features stemming from common roots.

The individual character of these four cities in southern Etruria is illustrated by a selection of some of the most important works of art from each locality, many of which are on public display for the very first time.

clip_image001[7]The second part of the exhibition is dedicated to the relationship between these ancient cities and Rome itself, which highlights the huge influence that the Etruscan civilization had on the Roman world. Another important museum about Etruscans to advise is  Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia.

Veio is famous for the production of “terracotta” intended to decorate the roofs of buildings and achieve votive sculptures.

clip_image001

Cerveteri is characterized mainly by the extraordinary funerary architecture connected to the famous necropolis.

Vulci is the monumental sculpture in stone.

Caere (Cerveteri) and Vulci, from the end of the eighth century BC, were the main destinations for large trade flows which from the greek world markets reached different centers in Etruria.

Tarquinia, with its several hundred tombs painted between the archaic and Hellenistic age, is the most important art gallery of the ancient world before Pompeii.

Do not miss this great archeologic appointment in Rome, do visit this exhibition and this wonderful city. I advise you to stay in a nice three star hotel near Termini Station-Lucci Hotel, which offers you genuine hospitality and warmth.

clip_image001[5]

The exhibition is open on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 8pm;

on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 10.30 pm;

Closed on Mondays.

Jean Prouvé at The Ara Pacis

 JP chez lui hublot

Between 20 June 2008 and 14 September 2008 , the Ara Pacis  Museum in Rome (via di Ripetta 190) hosts a traveling exhibition on the creations of one of the greatest French architects and designers of the 20th century.

Jan Prouvé developed the idea of nomadic architecture, whereby a chair was given the same iconic importance as a house, designing both with transportability in mind. His work has had a lasting impact on furniture and industrial design.  His main achievement was transferring the manufacturing technology from industry to the architecture, without losing the aesthetic qualities.

It demonstrates how Jean Prouvé (1901-1984) had a remarkable capacity to combine entrepreneurial skills with craftsmanship, design and architecture.
More than 100 of his works, executed between 1924 and the mid 70s are included in this exhibition:

Art by Jean Prouvé
50 objects of design(chairs, tables, desks, beds, lamps), architectonic elements, various architectural models as well as a rich selection of signed drawings and studies for the Péchiney pavilion in Paris.

Prouvé is considered a leading exponent of industrialized building.

Jean was born in Nancy. In Nancy in 1923 he opened what would be the first in a string of his own workshops and studios. He produced wrought iron lamps, chandeliers, hand rails and began designing furniture. In 1947 he built the Maxéville factory. After Maxéville he started "Constructions Jean Prouvé" In 1957 he started the Industrial Transport Equipment Company and built the Rotterdam Medical School, the Exhibition Center in Grenoble and the Orly Airways Terminal façade. The metal furniture of Jean Prouvé was produced copiously in every studio and workshop. Prouvé was influential in the development of the idea of nomadic architecture, likening a chair to a house, and designing both with portability in mind.He died in Nancy in 1984.

CINAVICINA- A closer look on China

CinaVicina

From May 23rd to June 08th the CinaviCina Festival is taking place in one of the  most fascinating city: Rome and the exhibits of art and culture and traditional performances of the world’s most populous country will be even hosted in one of the Renzo Piano ‘s pearl of architecture, the Auditorium Parco della Musica.

AUDITORIUM

The Auditorium’s construction began in September 1995. At north of Parioli District and at East from Flaminio District and just at south from the Olympic Village, the location was accurately chosen to foster a new dignity in this area. This intent is also underlined by the concept that this building wants to represent as both source of attraction and as source for everyday local use.auditorium

The Auditorium has three Music Halls named after Santa Cecilia, Petrassi and Sinopoli, which are immersed in a large park with trees with an impressive theatrical cavea, facing the Olympic Village.

THE IDEA

The CinaviCina Festival is jointly produced by the Fondazione Musica for Rome and the Centre of International Cultural Exchange, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China. The Fondazione Musica worked on this project for two years, trying to take the most of the Chinese culture, individuating the most preminent rapresentatives in all the creative fields: from traditional songs and dances to the theatre and the cinema, to cuisine, massage and kung fu. The Festival ‘s name takes origin from the movie auditorium2of the Italian director Marco Bellocchio entitled “La Cina è vicina” (China is close), screened at the Venice Festival of the Cinema in 1967. Never as before China is felt “close” to Europeans like today, not only as a commercial partner and/or opponent as in first instance it has been for decades but even as a cultural identity with its own history and costumes.  This Festival wants to enlarge the cultural vision of China in Europe and help the intercultural exchange. Dialogue and knowledge can only strengthen the al comprehension of two civilisations that are so distant in many different ways. Highly appreciated by the Chinese Embassy in Italy, Sun Yuxi, who highlighted the importance for the relation among Italy and China.

PERFORMANCESCina Feast

The Festival covers different kind of exhibitions and displays. We will be fascinated from the beginning and get to the mood with the Dongguan Shipai Lion Dancing Troupe, which opens the event and “Sticks” is the dance show of the Guandong Modern Dance Company. with Kung Fu will be the main key in the spectacle of the Gongfu MonkGroup of the Shoalin Temple (June 1st and 2nd), the Changqing Acrobatic Troupe will stun viewers with amazing acrobatic routines (May 28th – 29th). About music we will pass through the Mongolia Chorus accompanied by local instruments thanks to the Mongolia Youth Chorus and the Butterfly girls Band (June 07th and 8th) until the modern music exhibitions of the eminent composer Guo Wenjing (May 23rd – 24th). Mongolian Choir

If you plan to visit Italy during this period, and maybe are looking forward into opening an enterprise with Chinese counterparts, then do not hesitate to participate in this unforgettable initiative. Book you stay in one of the stylish hotels in Rome-YES HOTEL, from which you will easily reach Auditorium.

Carlo Levi: the breath of the city

WhoCarlo Levi with pype

Carlo Levi was born in Turin in 1902 , he died in Rome in 1975. His family was quite rich and he had the possibility to follow the studies and received a university degree in Medicine, but his passion has always been painting to which he attributed the value of freedom. He was a diversly talented artist, as his artistic interests sweep between the painting and the writing.

He was a great writer, wrote a good number of books during his life but his masterpiece remains “Christ stopped at Eboli”. Levi is the symbol one of the major exponents of the Italian culture of twentieth-century.Eboli

Against the futurism avant-garde and after some years spent in Paris Carlo Levi joined the movement called “The six of Turin” starting doing some exhibitions all around Italy. If at the beginning he started to paint in chair colours then after his Roman stay he began to prefer more realistic paintings.Levi

This is exactly what you can see in the Rome exhibition, which has on display 46 paintings of Levi, paintings in where you will be able to observe the passage from a chair style to the one of a more expressionist with dense brush-stroke. Most of the paintings are portraits, but in the ones where the city of Rome is the subject , appear one secret city distant from the one of “Caput Mundi”.
